OpenStack is a collection of open source technologies delivering a massively scalable cloud operating system. The community is currently developing three interrelated projects: OpenStack Compute (code-named Nova), a scalable compute provisioning engine, OpenStack Object Storage (code-named Swift), a fully distributed object store, and OpenStack Image Service (code-named Glance), an image registry and delivery service.
Launched by Rackspace and NASA in July 2010, OpenStack has quickly gained momentum with more than 100 active developers and over 60 companies and organizations backing the project. OpenStack supports all of the major hypervisors, and is a solution for both public and private clouds. There have been three official software releases in nine months, and contributors across the world are adding new features every day.
In this workshop, attendees should expect to:
Ron Pedde has nearly 20 years of experience in the IT industry, including experience as a programmer, network administrator, systems administrator, and systems engineer. He has considerable experience in the design and implementation of large scale systems for enterprises and web-scale companies. As a systems generalist, Ron’s diverse experience helps him find unique solutions for any problem. Ron thrives on challenge, and enjoys the effort of turning complex requirements into elegant solutions.
A collector of the finest works of ascii art, Todd has quite refined tastes and styles. If you are lucky enough to spot one in the wild, you will most likely find him around open source watering holes building cloud software.
