While many developers use proven best practices to ensure that the performance of web applications is acceptable, further tuning and tweaking are useless without real measurement data. A wide range of analysis tools are available for major desktop browsers, however the situation is different on the mobile space as there is very little instrumentation possibilities. This talk will highlight several techniques which can be utilized to find out what the mobile browser is doing (at almost real-time), covering network proxy server, remote JavaScript debugger, event automator, and few other tricks.
Ariya Hidayat is a passionate technologist with over a decade of experience working with different levels of hardware and software. Although he likes math and physics, after finishing his dissertation on fiber optic transmission system, he opted to try a new thing and bootstrapped his professional software career. He has been involved with different open source communities, writing code for projects like KDE, Qt, and WebKit. Currently he is working as Engineering Director for Sencha, a Silicon Valley startup focusing on web technologies.

I’ve met with Ariya and other Sencha folks – they definitely know the mobile space. In addition, they’ve had to focus on multiple mobile platforms. I’m excited to hear some practical takeaways from Ariya on tools and techniques he’s used to gauge performance on mobile.
