Thanks for joining us for the second edition of Velocity, the Web Performance and Operations Conference. Below is information to help you get the most out of your time at the conference.
Conference Location and Room Info
Velocity 2009 will be held at The Fairmont San Jose in San Jose, CA. All conference activities take place on the Ballroom level (second floor) of the hotel. Please visit the Hotel & Travel page for reservations, directions, and parking information.

Stop by the Exhibit Hall to explore the latest products and services from exhibitors and sponsors. Mingle with other attendees and speakers, and enjoy great refreshments during the Tuesday evening reception. Keep an eye out for your Velocity co-chairs, who we hear will be roaming the Exhibit Hall during the conference.

Spike Night

Join us Tuesday evening for Spike Night - an engaging, real-time Web Performance shootout is a chance to see and learn about how real, high-traffic websites deal with massive increases in load, either expected or unexpected. We'll see real-world management of traffic increases - graphs, tools, the whole shebang.

Wireless Internet Access
Wireless connectivity to the Internet will be available throughout the conference areas of The Fairmont. Internet access in your hotel room is available through the hotel for an additional fee.
Customize Your Online Schedule
Try our online personal scheduler to help you plan your time at Velocity. Mark the sessions, keynotes, and events you want to attend at Velocity by clicking on the calendar symbol next to each listing. Then click on "personal schedule" at the top of the page to generate your own customized schedule.
Velocity Attendee Directory
Velocity now has an Attendee Directory that allows you to see who else is going to Velocity and connect with them before, during, and after the conference. Once you opt into the Directory and log into your O'Reilly Conference account, you'll be able to:
- Search through the list of attendees
- Set up your personal profile and add a profile pic
- Create lists of contacts and people you want to meet
- Send messages to other participating attendees
- Share your Twitter identity and tweets with others
How to Access the Attendee Directory
Make sure you have chosen to opt-in to the Directory use these features. To opt-in:
- Go to the Attendee Directory
- If prompted, login to your O'Reilly Conferences account with the user name and password you used to register for Velocity (note: if you are already logged in, you will skip this step)
- Once logged in, click on the "Participate in Attendee Directory" button at the bottom of the page.
Comment on and Rate the Sessions You Attend
Give your feedback about any session and speaker throughout the conference. Click on the stars in the "Rate this Session" box at the upper right of any program detail page. Scroll to the bottom of any session detail page to leave a public comment about the session and/or speaker, or to post a question.
Velocity Sessions Media Online
Presentation files and select video will be made available on http://conferences.oreilly.com/velocity after the session has concluded and the speaker has given us the files (Please note some speakers choose not to share their presentations).
Velocity Tags
If you are tweeting from the conference, posting blogs and/or photos while you're at Velocity, be sure to use #velocityconf and #velocityconf09 tags.
